I watched this earlier in the week. Went in with a great deal of skepticism. The critics have been nothing less than scathing.
But I loved it. And I cannot get it out of my head now. The critics missed the point completely. The film is about the suffering that was involved in the ‘greatest romance of the 1900s’ – and not just that, it’s about a woman of the present day that finds a strength in the story that is beautiful. She makes a huge decision for herself and breaks free.
The script is gorgeous. The directing by +Madonna is spectacular. Abbie Cornish gives a magical performance.
And the soundtrack is absolutely fabulous.
I loved it. Loved it.
It’s not fast paced. It is a quiet, graceful film. I might have to buy it so I can watch it again on quiet afternoons.
