My parents gave me Anna Karenina, the novel, for my 16th birthday. I don’t think either of them had ever read it, or they probably wouldn’t have given it to me.
I truly think my real love of tragic heroines, tragic love stories, inevitable disaste, and heart-wrenching stories was awakened with this story. After it, I devoured these types of novels and plots. Quickly, Anna and Catherine Heathcliff became my Ultimate Heroines. So much Emotion. So much True Love. So much Heartbreak.
This is probably why The English Patient is one of my favorite films of all time.
I cannot wait to see this movie. I am thrilled that it seems to be getting a positive reception!
