  • ’ve been worried about going all-out for the pure Chemistry B.S. because I’ve been worried about the math, to tell the truth. Now, let me tell you how silly that probably is.

Back in the Middle Ages, when I was in high school, I took AP Calculus. And I got a 4 on the exam. That’s pretty good, in case you didn’t know. Then I went to university, enrolled in Calculus 3, and had a teacher who made me feel like I was a complete moron. I got my first ever C. Ever since then, I’ve been terrified of advanced math.

To get a pure Chemistry BS, you need at least calculus (for physical chemistry).

My current professor, Dr. Eric Ball at Metro State University, is a BRILLIANT lecturer - truly great (debunking the myth that an ‘easy to get into’ state college can’t give you a good education). Just in the last week, he has made me rethink these silly notions. I feel I could learn anything with a teacher like this.

So, I will get a pure Chemistry degree.

At the rate of one or two classes a semester, this will take a while. And I feel I have to redo some math - starting with trig (?) .

    It’s so exciting!
