Confident and Courageous
The people in my life I admire most are those who are confident in their beliefs and the courage to stand by those convictions even in the face of strong, and so often wrong, opposition.*
Well thought out, reasoned, and considered opinions are rare. And it is even rarer to find people in your life with the strength to not only HAVE their own opinion, but to also VOICE it. I’m guilty of having opinions that I do not always share. It is cowardly of me. And friends who do the opposite give me a great incentive to speak out against what I often find is absurdity.
*How often, indeed, are the loudest and strongest voices those that voice beliefs and opinions as truth. Even if they are unconsidered or unwise. Or, you know, wrong.
I don’t always completely agree with the friends I mention above, but I love them the most, because I believe they are real. They are honest, and they inspire me.
I was going to name names. But I won’t embarrass them.
